Broadlands Estate.
The 18th Century Palladian Mansion on the Broadlands Estate was the former residence of Prime Minister Palmerston. It is a private residence that is open to visitors on weekdays in the summer. With guided tours and various summer events being held on the grounds.
Located near the town of Romsey, Hampshire, Broadlands is the family seat of the Lords Mountbatten and currently under the guardianship of Lady Brabourne, High Steward of Romsey. The original manor and grounds belonged to the Romsey Abbey since before the 11th century English Norman Conquest. Broadlans was sold to Sir Francis Fleming in 1547 after the dissolution of the monastries Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip spent their Honeymoon at Broadlands Estate in 1947 and re visited the estate in 2007 for their diamond anniversary. It was also here that the Prince and Princess of Wales spent the first 3 days of their honeymoon in 1981 before setting off on a Mediterranean Cruise.
