The Angel Tester State Bed (Queen Anne State Bed)
Fabric for the restoration of the The Angel Tester State Bed (Queen Anne State Bed).
Silk Damask in crimson pure silk, woven in a narrow width scale of 53.5 cm for the linings of The Angel Tester State Bed.
The outer bed drapes of silk velvet have an extravagant lining of the silk damask in one of the two designs to be seen inside the tester. The same design is featured on the throne canopy at Hampton Court Palace, and on the State Bed at Holyrood House Scotland.
The colour was matched to the remaining fragments on the tester and found to be an exact colour match to the Mandavill crimson on another crimson bed from Brympton J’Evercy House, Somerset, now in the USA.
