The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.
The White House was designed by Irish born architect, James Hoban. It has neoclassical style, built between 1792-1800. The building has been altered a number of times since it’s first construction to accommodate the current President of the time.

Furniture Upholstery for the Oval Office.
Silk damask in a dusky pink used to cover a suite of furniture given by Queen Elizabeth II in celebration of her Silver Jubilee in 1977. It was gifted to President Jimmy Carter for use in the Oval Office. The original set of Chippendale Furniture is in No. 10 Downing Street, London and the set given to the USA was the first reproduction in the series.
The design is also used in a smaller scale at St James’s Palace (Royal Collection) and another version can be seen in the Warner Textile Archive.
