British Textiles Week 2021
September 17, 2021 humphriesweaving

The digital platform launched by the United Kingdom Fashion & Textile Association, (UKFT,) showcases the craftsmanship, creativity and technical skills British companies like Humphries Weaving.

Humphries Weaving are proud to be featured throughout British Textiles Week 2021, which the UKFT describes to have “captured some of the most interesting and dynamic manufacturers, brands and designers throughout the UK textile industry.”

The event runs from the 13th to the 17th of September. You can explore the event here.

UK Interior textile manufacturers are renowned worldwide for their high specification fabrics, with the sector earning an international reputation for quality, craftsmanship and design. Our luxury fine furnishing fabrics can be found alongside vibrant printed textiles, eye catching embroidery, next-generation technical textiles and a wide range of yarns.

The event features a series of online articles, images, interviews, company profiles. New features for 2021 also include the “hot off the loom,” for which we shared our 18th Century “Abberton Damask” in the customer’s chosen silk & linen shades in response to their brief. The fabric is suitable for upholstery, curtains and drapes, with the design one of thousands available from their textile archive.

Another exciting new feature is the “did you know” section. Here we talk about how the fabrics we have woven for prestigious historic interiors are often found in iconic TV & films, including Downton Abbey and Peaky Blinders. These magnificent rooms are used for the authentic sets, and we love guessing locations and spotting Humphries fabrics alongside some of our most loved actors. Kedleston Hall was used for scenes in © The Duchess 2008. Paramount Vantage, Pathé, BBC Films.

Alongside showcasing the great selection of textiles companies found throughout the UK, this year British Textiles Week 2021 also promotes the importance of local sourcing, which has become even more evident in recent times.

“UKFT would encourage domestic fashion designers and interior brands to look again at what UK textiles have to offer.”

We look forward to seeing how the digital event unfolds, and to learning more about the other great companies working alongside us.
