Hopetoun House

Hopetoun House, West Lothian, Scotland.

Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Hopetoun House in the home of the Hope family, titled the Earls of Hopetoun. One of the most splendid Georgian mansions in Britain being the work of Scottish architects Sir William Bruce and William Adam.

The family seat since the late 1600’s the the Present Earl of Hopetoun and his family still reside in the property today. The magnificent interiors have remained virtually unchanged for three centuries and reflect the elegance of the Georgian era. Although still a family home the property is also open for the public to enjoy.

The Yellow Drawing Room

Fabric for the decoration of the Yellow Drawing Room.

Although grand in scale the Yellow Drawing room retains the feeling of a family sitting room. Humphries Weaving were commissioned to supply yellow and straw silk and cotton damask for walling, furnishing and window drape restoration in the room.

The design is from the late regency period and contains the popular fern and wreath motifs.

The State Dining Room

The State Dining Room restoration.

The State Dining room is used for formal banqueting and receptions but is also much utilised by the family.  Humphries Weaving supplied crimson silk and cotton damask for the restoration of the curtains in the State Dining Room.
