Our last working day is Tuesday the 24th of December 2024 and we return on Thursday 2nd of January 2025. See some of the textiles of 2024 below.
2024 has marked another exciting year for Humphries Weaving. We have travelled the world, working with many existing and new clients, while keeping our looms busy weaving thousands of metres of spectacular new designs. These fabrics involve drawing intricate new patterns, custom dyeing exact shades and weaving complex Jacquard fabrics. Our team has also changed, as account manager Sarah Wall joins Natalie, Alex, Charlotte & Richard.
For the first time since Covid the team jetted off to visit projects overseas. Alex & Charlotte visited 5 states in America from coast to coast, from NYC to LA. It was fascinating to see the heritage of Textiles in buildings of historic importance through to every day homes. It was also lovely to visit our fabrics at the Metropolitan Museum of New York, with an image of the The Wrightsman Galleries Tester Bed below.
As well as traveling abroad, we visited many different locations in the UK. As well as site visits in Scotland, the team attended trade shows to keep up to date on the latest trends and textiles of 2024. Focus at Chelsea Harbor & Decorex at Olympia in London offered a world of inspiration for textiles innovations, colour palettes and new designs, from all areas of the interior design scheme. Its always interesting to explore other disciplines, such as furniture, lighting and door handles.
In October the Humphries Weaving team also exhibited at the Making it in Textiles conference, where director Natalie was on a panel inspiring the next generation of future weavers. In November we could be found at the annual Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens Event. The team enjoyed re-connecting with familiar faces and also meeting new clients. Proudly on display was a preview of the historic recreation for Arundel Castle, a huge project which will be revealed in 2025. For this Alex re drew the original design from faded and damaged bed drapes, and recreated 4 unique custom dyed shades. The room will be restored to its former glory in 2025, and we very much look forward to sharing the results with you all.
Other exciting projects included, champagne moire and crimson damask walling for Sherborn House, curtains for private clients in the UK & The Netherlands, sage silk damask for Alnwick Castle and Datchet House, purple Ecclesiastical Robes for St Marks Church, and a multi coloured artist collaboration with Study O Portable. The textiles of 2024 have included a new Dragons & a Floral silk tissue, a cotton damask and moiré in unique shades. More examples can be seen on our Instagram page.
As well as developing the textiles of 2024, the team has also been busy with improvements at the mill. The re-decorated showroom opened in October, and we have enjoyed hosting brunch meetings on our new furniture which has been re-upholstered in the latest Humphries Weaving fabrics. The new showroom will be featured as part of our new website launch in January 2025, so watch this space for our brand new look!
From the whole team at Humphries Weaving we wish you a wonderful festive break and happy new year. We hope that you have enjoyed the textiles of 2024, and we look forward to working together in 2025 and beyond.
Warmest wishes,
Natalie, Alex, Sarah, Charlotte & Richard
